About This Place

Sportsman's Pub-n-Grub in Pacific City, Oregon, is a classic coastal bar and seafood restaurant that perfectly embodies the laid-back, welcoming spirit of the Oregon coast. Here, fresh-from-the-boat seafood meets hearty pub favorites, creating a menu that satisfies both the casual diner and the devoted food lover.

Step inside, and you’ll immediately feel the inviting buzz of a friendly dive bar filled with locals and visitors alike. The atmosphere is unpretentious yet vibrant—where good times flow just as easily as the well-poured beers and ciders. The staff is consistently praised for their warmth and efficiency, making every visit a truly enjoyable experience.

Seafood lovers will find an irresistible variety of delights that showcase the bounty of the nearby Pacific waters. The fresh cod fish and chips is a standout favorite, featuring tender, flaky cod encased in a delicate, crunchy batter that crackles with every bite. Equally tempting are the pan-fried oysters, celebrated by patrons for their perfectly crisp exterior and succulent interior. The Captain’s Platter offers a generous sampling of the ocean’s best, while the clam chowder earns high praise as a contender against any along the coast—rich, creamy, and brimming with fresh clams.

For those craving something different but equally satisfying, Sportsman's offers a variety of robust pub staples such as the Ranch Burger with Canadian bacon and Swiss cheese and the hearty mushroom Swiss burger. These homemade patties, unlike any frozen convenience, are prepared with care and packed with savory flavor. Fans of Mexican-inspired dishes can enjoy the Sportsman’s Super Nacho or the chicken and beef burrito supremes, all loaded with vibrant, fresh ingredients.

Beyond the main dishes, the menu also shines in its sides and snacks—from the indulgent beer-battered onion rings to the playful fish n chips tater tots and the zesty tequila lime shrimp tostada. This variety ensures there's a perfect bite for any craving.

What truly sets Sportsman's Pub-n-Grub apart is its balance of quality and value. Customers like Sharon Hawkins rave about the homemade cheeseburgers—hand-formed, juicy, and never greasy—served at family-friendly prices that make dining out both treat and thrifty. Others, like Ed Buffey and Deeproamer, emphasize the freshness of the seafood, noting the dory-caught fish that arrives daily and the crispy, flaky textures that highlight a skillful preparation.

The service experience adds an extra layer of comfort. Waitstaff such as June Bud (a favorite mentioned by customers) deliver friendly, attentive care that enhances the relaxed vibe. The restaurant itself maintains cleanliness and a straightforward, welcoming decor that fits perfectly with its beachside locale.

Whether you’re grabbing a post-beach pint, indulging in a comforting bowl of chowder, or sinking your teeth into a hearty burger, Sportsman’s Pub-n-Grub stands out as a genuine local gem. It captures the essence of Pacific City’s coastal charm and offers a dining experience that feels authentic, satisfying, and refreshingly unpretentious.

It was very busy for a Monday night. Noting the friendly bartender and other staff, it's no wonder. I ordered the fish and chips because I'd heard that the fish is fresh off the dory boats. The fish was tender with a light, crispy batter. Besides the chips there was a side of coleslaw which was chopped a little bigger than expected with a standard sauce. They made sure you get your money's worth.

As we travel dive bars are one of our favorite things to find. What makes the sportsman's unique is that it's a cool dive bar that puts out great food. We had the clam chowder which stood up against the others that we have been sampling along the Oregon coast. We also got the Dory caught ling cod fish and chips. The coating was crunchy Krispy and the fish flaky and firm. But to top it off what made it special for us was our server June bug a petite little lady who flew around the bar like the flash. She was very helpful always on top of it and delivered everything with a big smile. The prime rib French dip belong to the neighbor sitting next to us. He said it was one of the best he ever had. It gets busy in there so be patient and enjoy this local watering hole.

It's exactly what I expected. The food was good, the bathroom was clean as was necessary, and there were only a few uncomfortable moments in proximity to some strange people. So it's a good mix of locals and overflow tourists. It has everything you expect to be on the menu of a bar at the beach in a small town.

I went on because I didn't feel like cooking..... WOW a real homemade cheese burger. Not one of those premade frozen patties but handmade patty. Sooo good and not greasy. They sell pastries too, so I bought a chocolate chip bar with coconut.... Very good. Not over price like some of the other restaurants near by who charge $30 for a burger. This place caters to family pricing.

Me and my buddy Shaun visited this place before we hit up Pacific City Beach to complete our camping trip, and I love the atmosphere. Cozy, warmly lit, and eclectically decorated pub with great, kind service (though slow for sure as it seems just one person serves everyone inside), and the food also was solid. We both ordered the Lingcod, and it was delicious, but it had the consistency and even flavor of Flounder to me, which is not the signature steaky meaty large flakes with a unique flavor like Lingcod is known for, which puzzled me. The price was $17, which is insane to me given the portion size. Makes Burgerville's Halibut Fish & Chips baskets seem cheap in comparison now, which is insane and tough to pull off. They are however a small one stop mom and pop, so I can excuse the excessive price a bit. Still too much for sure, however. The tables all come with bottles of ketchup and mayo mixed, ranch and a third condiment I cannot currently recall for some reason. The bathroom was clean, and I appreciate the humor in the art of the place. Chicks and cocks (a classic) adorn the respective bathroom doors, "Please Do Not Tease Or Feed The Help" on the wall behind our table, and various humorous stickers on the window by the front door facing outside. I also love the classic true small town atmosphere to it, as when there, you can tell everyone knows everybody there, and holds conversations with each other and use each other's first names. That's community right there! Love that. If you pay attention on the drive to and from Pacific City, you'll notice each of the businesses this pub gets some of their food from - Jandy's is between Tillamook and the Tillamook Air Museum, Dory's (who supposedly supplies the Lingcod) is located just before you properly enter the main city itself on the south side of Brooten Road, on the bay's north shore. I love that all these local mom and pop businesses work together. Such a rarity in the modern era.
